Most households have a system that lets them run in some type of organized manner. It may be organized chaos, but it’s chaos nonetheless, and it works to keep the family in order. Schedules, routines, lists, etc. are all things that work towards helping many busy family’s stay on top of their busy lives and bringing to it a level of manageability. Without it, everyone would be walking around confused, irritated and wouldn’t know what to do!
Running a household in an organized manner is not hard to do. Part of what can make the task easier is implementing one routine at a time to get the family acclimated to things being run a certain way. Introducing a lot of schedules or routines all at once can be not only overwhelming, but can also fail out of confusion and even irritation.
- Laundry
Set a certain laundry day of the week when ALL of the laundry gets done. Have designated family members to be in charge of it and to make sure that the process is completed.
- Rooms
Designate a room or multiple rooms per each person in the household, making them responsible for cleaning and straightening it up. This ensures that every room, at all times is in order. Establish certain times to attend to it (i.e, every day at 4:00 p.m.).
- Kitchen
Involve the entire family in cooking and cleaning in the kitchen. This reduces the workload for one person and gets everyone involved.
After a small amount of time in getting used to a household routine, the family will start operating in a smoother fashion and things will flow easier with everything in place. They may even able to find shortcuts to certain routines and an easier way to do things. Ultimately, organization for the home will be a good thing, and the family will feel better for it.
